Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition is real and will be released later this year. The trilogy, brought together by Grand Theft Auto 3, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas, will include "major improvements, including improved graphics and modern gameplay," across all three games, but Rockstar has promised to also have a "classic look." and "maintain" the feel of the original game.
One controversial aspect of the announcement is that Rockstar will begin removing the original versions of all three games from digital storefronts before the Definitive Edition is released on October 11. It's unknown if existing owners will accept the upgrade offer, but Rockstar's support page states that anyone who owns the game will still have access to it.
Not much can be done at this time, but more details will be announced "in the coming weeks". I hope we don't have to wait long to find out more. Rockstar said in a statement that October is a "very special birthday" for Grand Theft Auto 3: more specifically, it is October 22, the 20th anniversary of the release of GTA3.
Interestingly, however, the trilogy will be releasing on iOS and Android.
More information about the game is expected in the coming weeks.
