NINTENDO 4K SWITCH

NINTENDO DEVELOPERS HAVE REPORTEDLY BEEN WORKING ON "4K SWITCH GAMES".

Nintendo was reportedly working on a 4K switch, but changed its plans after making kits available to developers in various studios.

This information comes from Bloomberg, which first reported on the Nintendo Switch Pro's 4K development back in March. It is reported that the console will be released later this year and will have an Nvidia chip that will support 4K resolution with the console attached. Instead, of course, we get the Nintendo Switch OLED, which has the same performance as the original Switch but displays games through a better screen.

Now Bloomberg reports that although Nintendo is working on a 4K Switch Pro, it's finally decided in a different direction due to a widespread shortage of chip stocks. It's also said that Nintendo has shipped 4K Switch development kits to at least 11 companies, from well-known publishers to independent studios, including never-before-played ones.

A Bloomberg report suggests that we won't see a 4K-enabled Nintendo console as early as late 2022, which makes sense since the Switch OLED won't launch until next month. It's worth noting that Nintendo responded to Bloomberg by calling its report "inaccurate" but providing no further information.

Developers who received the Switch's 4K developer kit are reportedly still working on their games and plan to release them "during or after the second half of next year," though it's still uncertain whether Nintendo will ever showcase the Switch console.

Nintendo Switch's new OLED hit the market on October 8 and costs $350, which is a lot more than the current Switch. Whether the extra cash is worth it depends entirely on how much you play on the console in manual mode, as docking the two Switch consoles works identically.
